Day 1: Thursday, 24 April, 2025: Arrival in Paro
Welcome to Bhutan! འབྲུག་ལུ་ཕེབས་བསུ་ཞུ།
Your experience commences the moment your flight lands in Paro International Airport, the only International Airport in Bhutan. Once you clear the custom and immigration procedure, you will be warmly received by Dorji and taken into town for refreshments.
After this, you'll visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most beautiful temples, and the vibrant local vegetable market. Afterward, you'll drive to check in at Happiness Farm, where you'll enjoy a welcome dinner and settle in for a peaceful overnight stay, surrounded by the tranquility of Bhutan's countryside.
Day 02: Friday, 25 April: Explore Dobji Dzong and Surroundings
On Day 2, you'll visit the historic Dobji Dzong, a pioneering Bhutanese fortress with deep religious and cultural roots. Once a religious site, it has transformed over the years into a provincial governor (penlop) residence, a central jail, and now a monastic school. Afterward, hike to the sacred 'Drupchu' spring, known for its healing waters, where you can experience this revered site. Enjoy a peaceful picnic lunch before embarking on a scenic hike back to Happiness Farm via Yuesakha village. Unwind in an optional herbal bath and relax for another restful night at the farm
Day 03: saturday, 26 April: Discover Thimphu

On Day 5, you'll journey from Thimphu to Punakha, starting with an early drive to Dochula Pass, where you'll marvel at the 108 chortens set against sweeping Himalayan views. From here, embark on a serene hike through pine forests to Lungchutse Lhakhang, a remote temple offering panoramic vistas of snow-capped peaks. After the hike, continue to Punakha, where the calm waters of the river and verdant rice terraces create a tranquil atmosphere. Day 06: Tuesday, 29 April: Punakha

Physical Activity and Expectations:
This is a moderately active tour with average walking 2-4 miles per day in both urban and rural settings (and possibly even more if you enjoy walking).
You’ll need to be able to climb up and down multiple flights of stairs (indoors and out)
Occasional sitting on the floor (e.g. cross legged or legs stretched) and/or getting up and down from the floor.
You’ll encounter uneven cobblestone streets, sidewalks, and trails.

In the event that a requested visit is not available, a similar visit will be substituted. A finalized itinerary and Travelers’ Notes document will be sent to all participants about two weeks prior to tour departure.

Dorji will obtain your Bhutan tourist visa and book your flights to and from Paro on Druk Airlines, the Royal Bhutan airlines. This tour can also easily be combined with a pre-tour or post-tour visit to Eastern Bhutan and/or nearby Nepal (please inquire).
